Grub & Grow - Get MORE from '24
On the 10th January, we kicked of the new year with the latest event in our Grub & Grow event series, entitled Get More from ’24. The event had 30 local businesses in attendance and was hosted at Rascal and Radical in Tarporley, Cheshire.
What Is Grub & Grow?
Grub & Grow is designed to allow like-minded business owners to come together, learn, network and discuss business challenges and successes. We are a group of local, small businesses with one thing in common – we want to grow!
Meet The Guest Speakers
Emma Shaw – Rebel Inspire
Emma (aka Chief Rebel) is a coach, learning consultant and facilitator of circa 20 years. Her obsession is people; how they tick inside and how that translates into the outside world. She is ever curious of how we can swerve the status quo restrictions and rules so that we can create better businesses, happier people and a brighter future. With deep experience in a myriad of industries (from contact centre, to manufacturing to agriculture, financial services and housing… you name it), the one thing she’s found they all have in common is humans and our commonalities when it comes to connecting, communicating and evolving.
Dan Evans – Opal Commercial
A Commercial Finance broker, based in Cheshire, who provides specialist, bespoke advice tailored to you – as no two clients’ needs are the same. If you are looking to raise working capital, purchase an asset or fund your businesses growth – speak to us!
We have access to both High Street and specialist lenders willing to offer a range of funding solutions and a team of experienced advisors who are at hand to answer your questions.
Laura Butler – Butlers Accountancy
Laura has experience across a wide variety of business sectors, from vets to funeral directors. Laura has worked extensively with sole traders, partnerships, and small companies, always respecting that at the heart of each lies a dedicated entrepreneur, with a vision for their business.
Alex Morriscoe – Let’s Grow
With 20 years’ experience working for leading brand communication agencies in London and Manchester, Alex has a wealth of experience in building brands, connecting with audiences and growing business.
Key Takeaways From The Event
1. You need to have a plan!
“Running a business without a strategy is like driving to a new destination with no map or sat nav…”
You need to have a strategy to have something to move towards and measure yourself against.
2. Marginal Gains
If you’re feeling over or stuck, ask yourself “what’s one simple thing I can do now to move forward?”
Remember, we overestimate what we can do in a day and underestimate what we can achieve in a month!
3. The importance of building and maintaining a strong network of likeminded people
Utilising and calling upon those when needed. Having a solid network is GREAT for personal and professional development AND often essential for running your business to the highest of standards. It not only helps us, but our clients too!!
4. Co-operation is key
Joining forces with others is essential, so that we’re not all working on our own.
